Martin FergusonMartin Ferguson is a Director and Portfolio Manager at Mawer Investment Management Ltd., which he joined in 1996. He is the asset class manager for the Small Cap Canadian Equity mandates at Mawer, including the Mawer New Canada Fund. He is also a member of the management team for the Mawer Canadian Equity Fund and the Mawer Canadian Equity Institutional Pooled Fund.

The Mawer New Canada Fund earned the Analysts' Choice Award as the best Small Cap Canadian Equity fund in Canada in 2002, 2003 and again in 2004.

Mr. Ferguson has been in the investment industry for 27 years. Prior to joining Mawer in 1996, Mr. Ferguson was with the Investment Management Division of Alberta Treasury, a department of the Alberta government, from 1987 to 1996. From 1994 to 1996 he was the Senior Manager, Equity Research, helping in the management of Canadian equity assets in excess of $3 billion. Prior to that, he was the Senior Analyst, U.S. Equities. Mr. Ferguson also served as a member of Alberta Treasury's Strategy Committee, Pension Fund Committee, and Private Investments Committee.  Mr. Ferguson was with Principal Securities Management Ltd. as an Analyst from 1985 until 1987.  From 1982 until 1985, he was a Junior Analyst, U.S. Equities, at the Investment Management Division of Alberta Treasury.

Mr. Ferguson earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Honors, majoring in Finance, from the University of Alberta in 1982 and earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1985.

Mr. Ferguson is a member of the CFA Institute and the Calgary CFA Society.
