Overview

With several decades of experience managing institutional assets, Mawer is the investment manager of choice for some of the largest and most widely known companies, organizations and charitable foundations. Over two-thirds of our firm’s assets under management relate to a wide range of institutional investors with unique goals and objectives.

Global Expertise

Mawer provides in-house investment management for all major investment strategies including Canadian, U.S., International and Global Equities, and Fixed Income. This enables us to provide Balanced or Specialty portfolio management in accordance with a broad range of mandates. We offer a wide variety of investment vehicles including segregated accounts and pooled funds.

Investment Approach

Our goal is to provide investors with above average, long-term risk-adjusted returns by following a firm-wide, fundamental bottom-up investment approach. In addition, the highly collaborative nature of Mawer’s research team strengthens our investment perspective by allowing us to freely share and challenge ideas. We are long-term, patient investors, benchmark agnostic, and think probabilistically to better manage risk.

Capacity Management

To ensure the integrity of our portfolios and to protect our existing clients, we closely monitor our strategies’ assets under management. We will close a strategy when its size could restrict adherence to our investment philosophy.

Client Service

Client-servicing excellence is a critical element to our clients’ success. Our Institutional Client Portfolio Managers all hold the CFA designation and are well versed in all aspects of portfolio management. We view the ability of our team to effectively communicate Mawer’s views on relevant portfolio and market developments as fundamental to creating a successful client experience.

“The folks at Mawer bring a different dimension. They’re on the ground. They know what’s happening. And they’ve taken our investments with them to another level.”

— Malcolm Gowie, CFO, United Way of Calgary
