Paul Wheaton is an investment counsellor at Mawer Investment Management Ltd., which he joined in 2014. Prior to joining Mawer, he was a senior client service and investment professional at Hamilton Capital Partners, Kootenay Capital Management, and Gluskin Sheff & Associates.

Mr. Wheaton is a CFA Charterholder and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from Wilfrid Laurier University. In 2017, he received his FAMILY ENTERPRISE ADVISOR™ certification, which is administered by the Family Office Exchange and the only program of its kind designed specifically for family enterprises and their advisors. Mr. Wheaton is also a Heritage Design Professional™ Candidate, a program designed by The Heritage Institute to help families create and maintain a common vision and culture of communication, trust, and mentoring from one generation to the next.

Mr. Wheaton is an active member of the firm and his community. He is a past member of the firm’s United Way campaign committee and Employee Committee, as well as a past member of the Calgary Chamber of Volunteer Organizations and also Theatre Junction Grand’s Board of Directors, on which he held multiple positions including secretary and chair of their Governance and Human Resources Committee. Currently, Mr. Wheaton is an investment committee member for the Jewish Community Foundation of Calgary. 

He is a member of the CFA Institute, CFA Society Calgary, and the Family Enterprise Exchange.
