How to construct this portfolio
The objective of the portfolio is to provide capital preservation on a real, or after-inflation basis. The portfolio will consist of 5% to 35% in equity, with the remainder of the assets invested in fixed income and cash equivalent securities. Short-term fluctuations in the portfolio are lessened through broad diversification and security selection; however, a small amount of volatility should be expected.

Risk Profile In general, funds with a higher risk profile will have returns that change more over time. They typically have a greater chance of losing money and may have a greater chance of higher returns. Funds with a lower risk profile tend to have returns that change less over time. They typically have lower returns and may have a lower chance of losing money.

May I substitute alternate funds to construct my portfolio?

It is broadly diversified and provides exposure to U.S., International and Canadian Mid-Large Cap, as well as Global Small Cap and Emerging Markets asset classes. An alternate balanced or equity fund may also be a good fit—for example, the Mawer Balanced Fund can be substituted for the Global Balanced Fund should you wish to have less foreign equity and currency exposure.
